Grrrrrrrrrrrr PRIVATE FEEDBACK!!!

Why do Ebay allow this? I bought something nearly a month ago, paid by cheque.Cheque was cashed 23rd of February and I still haven't received anything.Went to email the seller and noticed they have suddenly made their feedback private and have received NINE negative feedbacks since I won the auction. .Because the feedback is now private I can't even see what the negatives say,or look to see how many other buyers bought stuff around the time I did.I got no reply to my email so I requested the sellers phone number from Ebay. It's a mobile number and is just ringing out.I've started the process for goods not recieved but from reading the eligibilty conditions it appears I would only be eligible for compensation if the value was over £25 (it was approx £8).Why,especially in these circumstances does Ebay allow the seller to make their feedback private?

sorry you are stuck,
unfortunately private feedback always appears dodgy to me.smile --- it makes people wonder what you are up to....

That is really annoying.....! I think the seller sounds like they are on the slippery slope to being banned but any newbies that are still looking to purchase items from this seller wont be aware of why he has kept his feedback private... IMO the seller will only have a limited amount of people that will buy from someone with private feedback but that doesn't help you!
I think the only hope you have got is to wait for the goods not receieved process to kick in and keep trying to contact the seller...
You'd think ebay would be able to suspend someones account if things start to get like this wouldn't you! (can they???)
Good luck!

Ohhh their account can and WILL be suspended! 9 negs will get eBay looking into it, as no doubt these people and more will be emailing them about this seller. Plus add the fact that his feedback is now private, and it is only a matter of time before he is gone from eBay. eBay can kick someone off whenever they feel it is appropriate.
My guess is this seller will now try and rip off as many people as he can in the short time he has left.
Sorry bigkisses but looks like you are dealing with a horrible seller. Contact eBay and hope for the best. The main thing is to keep the main thing the main thing:)0 -
Just for info, you can see what the privae feedback is if you really want to.
Do an advanced search on the seller's name and include completed listings.
Then look through the list of recent completed sales and click on the name of the winning bidder.
Look through that bidder's feedback left for others and identify the name of the seller concerned on the list of feedback left.

Also - another way to see private feedback

If they have a 'ME' page, often you can view it there also. I found this out recently, as I was outbid on a dress for my daughter. The seller had private feedback, and for good reason - as they were bidding on their own auctions on another ID! I told Ebay but they only clothes the other ID, so they are free to just open another....0
