I love my "Finance" spreasheet to bits!!! I don't go a day without updating it and pretty much start hyperventillating if I haven't updated all my payments and savings info within 12 hours of being paid!
I am currently on holiday and, as I have saved all the money needed for the holiday beforehand, have no need to update my spreadsheet...
I have developed a slight nervous twitch

I love my spreadsheet. I know all my bills and their values, and the days they go out. My extra spends are recorded every day in my spreadsheet and spends diary, and I've set up a second page for my gig reviewing costs/expenses. I alo know my weight, how much I've walked in any month, and total NSDs for month to date/year to date.** Total debt: £6950.82 ± May NSDs 1/10 **** Fat Bum Shrinking: -7/56lbs **
**SPC 2012 #1498 -£152 and 1499 ***
I do it all because I'm scared.

My life always feels slightly empty when I don't have a spreadsheet to fiddle with. It's like therapy to me.0

Can anyone help me find an early version of cw18's spreadsheet for budgetting - the one with the landscape pages. I have tried to download her latest one, but my computer doesn't like it (this one appears to have 'scrolling down' pages.
I've looked back thru the Frugal Challenge thread but can't see it anywhere.

Yes would be lost without it!
It starts from 01/12/08 (maternity) runs to 11/12/2014, I update after every shop if it was more or less than Id budgeted for & check it often to compare my bank account make sure nothing has gone astray. It includes every penny going in and out & where to.
I have figures already put in, I assume that all stays the same, but if for example I get a new job Id just go in and replace the salary & tax credts.
I have 'spare' 2 copies on tabs which I can go in an update with different figures if Im thinking of changing something eg work, bank debt payments then I can compare and see which is the best way forward.
Have one for debts only its a bit more for motivation really to see it going down week by week.
Self employed as of 3 weeks ago so I am in my element with the new spreadsheets atm:rotfl:
I definately wouldnt get on without one - Im thinking of changing banks and Im going to have to plan it precisely so I dont go overdrawn, if I didnt have my sheet I probably would have done a straight swap and not staggered, Id be in trouble with 2 banks!
Plus living on a tight budget a £10 unplanned payment might affect me 3 months down the line pushing me over my limit (that happened on maternity which lead me to setting it up!) I wouldnt be able to see if I didnt have my spreadsheet.
Good idea saving it to google docs, lost it twice, should have just started again but being the obsessive creature I am I had to go through every bank statement and restart!
I am going to treat myself though, as soon as I am out of my overdraft I will start a nice fresh one (but keep the old one for back up):j40 to go0 -

DFW or debt free - do you love your spreadsheet(s)?

Oh my goodness YESSS! In my case it is spreadsheetS as I have one to manage my monthly bills - this will cover a whole year and I can go back to 2006. Then I have one specifically to keep track of my debt busting and my savings. I also have one that is like a spending diary, where I input every single penny I spend, as well as all the savings I make on bogoffs, special offers, loyalty cards etc.
I too have spent hours on them. They are a big part of me taking control of my financial life.LBM: August 2006 £12,568.49 - DFD 22nd March 2012

This struck a chord with me. Before HBOS merged systems with Lloyds I could be found awake at 3-4am updating my spreadsheet on pay day 'cos that's what time the money hit!
Now it's sometime between 10-10.30pm - much more civilised!DF

Spreadsheets..well, where would we be without them? Probably up a creek without a financial paddle. They are the electronic version of ledgers but infinitely more versatile and flexible.
Like many folks on here, I have a self-built budget and ongoing spending spreadsheet which I've honed and constantly revised to a stage where it tells me all I need to know when I need to know it...
I built and used spreadsheets for many years in my job so this helped immensely in building formulae to help analyse spending, etc

Hi Lilli - I'm using this one http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showpost.php?p=39711066&postcount=360 which was Cheryl's spreadsheet for 2011
Is this the one you can't get to work?
Once you open it, it may open on the screen as a webpage but if you look to the right hand side there's a "download" button which will then open it in Excel and you can save it off.
There's a version for both excel 2007 and 97 - 03
