income support

evening
does anyone know if there is a income support calculator anywhere on the net.
i work 30hrs a week and my wife is a fulltime student we have 2 children, mortgaged property. I spoke to someone at the income supprt office and they told me we are not entitled to income support because i work 30.
I just want to know what we could be entitled to if i reduced my hours because i would love to spend more time with my kids

cheers

Are you claiming WTC + CTCs? And do you realise how little income support is? Tbh with only working 30 hours a week, surely there's plenty of time to spend with your children. I cannot in my right mind think why someone would chose to go on IS.

no i have no idea hence why i wanted a calculator. 30hrs is only 7hrs under full time so not really alot of time to spend with the kids if you factor in school.

You will never be entitled to IS because you are not in a group that can claim it.

It's around £105 a week, but anything you earn is deducted pound for pound (there's a small amount disregarded, don't know what that is for couples) Not sure what criteria it is for couples either, pp seems to think you don't meet it, I honestly don't know. Are you claiming tax credits?

They mean you won't meet the conditions for IS. In general terms you either have to be a carer, a lone parent with a very young child or someone who is already receiving this because they are incapable of work. Even then your income would have to be low enough to be awarded it which means less than £115 pw. It's an absolute no-goer.
I'll get you, my pretty, and your little dog too!

Suspect you'd be a lot worse off then! Seriously, IS sucks, you don't want to go there! Maybe once your wife has finished her qualification and gets a job you could cut your hours?
