  • Oh well, rubbish pay rise, 3.5%. Still it does not do to moan when people are losing their jobs or having to cope with pay freezes! At least I have my job.

Managed to make £120 profit on my expenses so that was good. In fact, I worked out today that if I did not eat, did not buy petrol or clothing for the next 9 months I could save £3000:rotfl: how about that hey!

Problem is that I could not get to work and I don't think the kids would fancy going hungry, or naked for that matter:eek:

I ought to get some ebaying done I reckon. There must be some outgrown clothes kicking about upstairs. Just want to relax though really, so maybe next week.

DMP is still going well, although Egg sold my cc to Barclaycard who have now passed it on to Mercer, there I house DCA so will have to see what happens to that one. The DMP thread is also full of MBNA stories. Apparently they are selling a lot of debts on:eek:

  • I have started a new 'trick' type thing, to boost my savings. I noticed that some of the challenges involve rounding money down in accounts or from your purse. Therefore, I will now round down my current account to the nearest £5 each day. The difference goes in my clothes account. My clothes account, however, should never be over £50 by the end of the month, do the difference will go in my car and Christmas account. GENIOUS

Hi Standingtall, just popped in to say hello and wish you well. I've just read all your diary and you sound very positive and upbeat about your situation. I definitely recommend the grocery challenge and it will sit nicely alongside your meal planning. Good luck s
LBM Dec 2011. Aimed, but failed, to clear all unsecured debt by Feb 2019. Finally free of unsecured debt 21st May 21!

    Debt Dec 11: Unsecured £69,579 + Mortgage £59,948 = £129,527
Debt May 21: Unsecured ZERO! ZILCH! Mortgage £22,332
  • Hi all. I have made a note to myself to have a look at the Grocery Challenge today. I shall let y know how it goes. Already I am making significant savings from the meal planning.

Had a very traumatic visit to India last week though:eek: I went (through work) to our office in Kolkata and then to see a client in Delhi. Horror of horrors however, my luggage disappeared! This was fine for office as I just trudged in wearing my travel clothes but clearly I needed to purchase clothing for client meeting. Now, please bear in mind that India is not keen on American Express (my work supplied charge card) and I no longer have a credit card due to being in DMP. Thus imagine my relief when I finally found a clothing store that took Amex. Then imagine my fear when there machine would not read the chip or strip on the card:eek::eek: I had to pay with my current account debit card! Now that was scarey as there was not a lot in there and I was frantically trying to work out the exchange rate in my head. I was also rather worried as my hotel bill has to be paid on the Amex card! However, all was ok:T

There is no real way around these issues. I work with in a management position and saying I cannot travel as I have to got a credit card is just not an option. There is nothing they could do of course, but it certainly would not help when it comes to prommotion etc.

For the record, I got my luggage back the day I was flying home:mad:

As a mum of a teenage daughter i know how expensive clothes can be as well as ebay have you come across http://www.everything5pounds.com/
They do lovely shoes and boots we have had quite a few pairs between us. Sizing is good and better quality than Primark. Clothes are good. Some dodgy styles but some real stylish gems in amongst. Normally they add about 6+ new items a day. I have them on facebook as they have a lot of prize draws daily sometimes and they do a preview of what's going live the next day. My daughter had had some nice complements and delights in saying it only cost a fiver!. If you see something new don't wait it does go out of stock quick and disappears off the site.

I am simply fed up this weekend! I am sick of my son and his stupid cannabis problem - I have told him to leave by Friday. Have discovered more evidence of payday loans and now, to add insult to industry, he is running up a huge catalogue debts. He earns £100 a MONTH right now is this has to be fraudulent surely? Bloody idiot.

This is not the first time these issues have occurred and he is not a child he is 20 so he can get out and deal with it himself. I have a 12 year old daughter and I will not have her subjected to debt collectors and druggies.

Then my dad has been ill and he is also worrying about my son. I think my dad has a couple of years left at the most and he really should not have to put up with all this crap.

And, I have to go to India for a week again, probably on the 12th March.

Where are my kids Dad's when I have to cope with all this you might ask. Well, first husband has next to nothing to do with his son and second is busy procreating with his new girlfriend who is a 31 year old chav - he is 45. She has a Rottweiler and will not let him move in with her as it will affect her benefits. :rotfl:

You know what? I feel a bit better for having written this down:T. I think I shall go and make a coffee, come back up to bed and watch some TV.

  • Thanks for your support BR, I shall be emailing shortly. I cannot believe how much happier I am in my home now my son is not here. That is a terrible thing to say though isn't it. The peace, the lack of bad smells, the lack of mess, his moods. However, the guilt of him being at my parents is immeasurable!

He is at CAB this mornings about his debts apparently. My did is with him. Anyway, more later...
