I was thinking other bits as well like pencils, rubbers to go along with the balls etc the other poster said. All the halloween things will be cheap so you could get other things as well as sweets. Big bags of marbles could be cheap (so long as he doesn't eat them!!!) but could be too heavy. Waterbombs or balloons are another ideabut they won't fill up much space but are light.

I like the chocolate coin idea best, that would look cool and wouldn't cause a weight problem which other sweets might. As the poster siad you wouldn't need to fill the whole bottle either for it to look fab.

tbh i wouldnt be very happy if someone bought my children that many sweets..i like the lego idea though
Have a Bsc Hons open degree from the Open University 2015 :j:D:eek::T
  • Of course it seems like a good idea - what kid wouldn't want a massive pile of sweeties? But...
I'd take on board that it DOES seem to be a lot of sweeties to be giving a little child & perhaps check with parents first? My dd has just had 3 teeth out and my ds is due to have 1 removed too. All down to sweeties. I wish wish wish I could turn the clock back & stop people giving them sweeties (I certainly didn't), but it seemed rude to stop grandparents, aunties, friends giving them treats...if only I knew then, what I know now. However, I'd definitely agree with the posters who are highlighting the effects of giving so many sweets I'm afraid.

As it's such a big bottle, I wouldn't be too keen on the idea of it being full of sweets (sorry :o) but I do think it's a great idea to put some chocolate coins in (not full to the top though). The bottle won't get sticky and for some reason most Kids love choc coins.

:p Busy working Mum of 3
  • Marshmallows, like flumps are normally cheap, light, will pad it out alot obviously as long as heavier sweets dont get put on top and squish them!
they are individually wrapped, i am just thinking if you are going to put bubbles and other party favours in too, could hygiene be an issue if your sweets arent wrapped?
also, have u thought about the big red puffy strawberry things you can get at pick n mix's they would be cheap as hardly weigh anything but will pad it out.

Sounds like a fantastic idea though, perhaps sneak a toothbrush in with the other bits ;)

To make the 'moaners' happier - maybe you could be sure to include a toothbrush and little tube of toothpaste in there too :) Tee hee ;)
