UPs from China - 3 days and custom free???

Options
I've been dealing with a wholesaler in China for a while now in small quantities however I've decided to bulk buy - now my purchse will only be around £100 however the guy has said that he will send the package by UPs and that he 'knows for sure' that we won't receive any customs charges and it will be with us in 3 days as it will come by UPs.

This is completely incorrect I am persuming? I have looked online but can't see anything.

I don't really have an issue paying my tax however I can buy the items in smaller quantities and not pay the tax as they are only £7 each and the saving of around 75p per pack would be COMPLETELY wiped out by any saving and it would end up costing me more to buy in bulk.

Thank you as always ;)

You *should* pay tax- so maybe seller is insinuating he will make a false customs declaration?

Just what I thought - I will buy in the smaller quantities.

Out of interest the 3 day ship can't be right can it?

I got offered UPS expediated shipping by one of my sellers last week- but they still claimed 7 - 10 days from China, but I don't know how accurate that was either.

  • I would say 3 days is quite possible - managed to get something shipped from London to Canada by next day delivery, and it arrived the next day (took 35 hours, sent 9am arrived 3pm Canada time!). It was DHL though.

Bear in mind though that this guy may well be willing to say anything for a sale that size!

Well I don't need them urgently so I can wait but I think I may either try and negotiate the price so that even with the customs charges they are still slightly cheaper or I will order most of them separately and wait for the more popular to be relisted and grab them when I can as they go oos all the time from every one of the sellers in China.

Either way payment will only be made by Paypal so at least I'm covered that way at least.

Seems china are having their own little credit crunch. Only caught a quick glimpse of the TV the
other night so i didnt catch the whole story.

Something about backstreet banks charging 40% interest a month? One factory owner had done a
runner as he couldnt pay them. And they dont send usless threat letters or phone to intimidate you
like the main banks. They send the lads round to collect..

As far as the three day delivery goes I would say very feasable.

I bought some glasses from South Korea. Coming via Hong Kong they took less than three days.

UPS do offer a fee inclusive package that covers all tax/fees at the other end
however given its only a £100 sale I would be surprised if the seller is using it

If he under-declares he will also be under-insured. Most carriers give options of who picks up the import charges but usually the recipient gets the bill. Some deliver first and invoice later.
