    Have you considered Belfast. Cheap, quick flights. Similar culture, great city, and a hell of a lot cheaper because they spend GBPs.

    I quite agree, and if I can be honest - not nearly so up it's own **** as Dublin is.

    Belfast is a great city (though I am biased) - also have been down to Galway a few times - love vibe and really worth a visit!

    ETA - if you are after anything cheap avoid Dublin - fab city but terribly expensive imo
