Work Experience while on Jobseekers Allowance (WORK PROGRAMME)

My friend did this work program twice, he worked for a well known discount store. He is a qualified welder/engineer but now works for the discount store and loves it.
Probably because he is a chatter box and gets to talk to people
I'll do it I'm still unemployed in 6 months, will go on my CV and a reference, plus I might be able to do something I've not done before.0 -
Exactly, it is not always about getting new skills, it is more about getting an up to date reference and some leads & contacts for potential new jobs. More usual to get these leads within construction where there are a number of subcontractors that you may never have been able to contact, just chatting to them on site often leads to employment ppportunities. Dont forget that a recent study showed that approx. 85% of people in employment did not get the job through an 'advert' it was through someone they knew or another route.0

Can you ask your advisor about the hours? I think 40 hours per week is a bit much for £67.00!
Can you imagine 8 weeks litter picking!! thats so bad its laughable!!
Many people will be receiving other benefits (LHA/HB/CTB) which would take the hourly rate well over NMW.0 -
Plus the work programme is for up to 30 hours per week.0

Well this may have said before, but i will welcome the work placement if it arrives for me, but the training or work experience is normally something to do with the work you are looking for anyway so i can't see why the OP would want to refuse.0

As I asked before, what else were you planning on doing for 2 weeks? Job Searching Activities are still required to take place & be recorded as per normal but in this situation, talking to a prospective employer while on a work placement counts towards these activites.0

OP, I don't know what your CV is like, but hopefully it has better grammar and spelling than your posts on here, as otherwise you will struggle to get an admin role.0 -

Thank u x0 -
Admin roles tend to need people who can spell with good grammar, hence the comment. If the OP's spelling and grammar in her CV are as on here then it could indicate why she hasn't got a job yet.. Why assume that it was a criticism, when actually it was meant as a helpful pointer?0

Yeah my CV spelling's are fine.0
