Mortgage PPI

If we are buying a house with a joint mortgage can we take out seperate mortgage PPI policies rather than a joint one?

If that is possible does it matter whether we each take out cover for the full mortgage of can we take out cover for a percentage each, i.e. a 60/40 split?

Thank you in advance

You dotn have to take MPPI out at all.

If you only want to take it out for a percentage of your mortgage then you can do.

ie. If your mortgage is £1k per month,
you can both take out £1000 per month cover, one of you could take £400 and the other could take £500 cover. It doesnt have to total £1000 benefit.

I'm having problems getting other types of cover, income protection, critical illness, etc... due to being a diabetic, so I'm looking at mortgage PPI so at least I have some cover...

PPI is underwritten at point of sale so pre-existing conditions will affect it just as much as the other things.
