do Changing the handle is pretty easy once you get in. Check whether you have a square or diamond spindle. You may have to cut the spindle length down and possibly drill a small hole in the spindle for a split pin. I did one recently and had to do exactly that. Ours had the key number stamped on the lock on the outside, sometihing like "042"
