And another fan of the Delia Christmas cake! I wasn't going to bother this year, but might have to make one now.

If anyone leaves it until the last minute, she has a mincemeat cake recipe that is also rather lovely!

I've made 6 Christmas cakes none for me lol!!! I've marzipaned 4 as I only made the last 2 yesterday will they be ok marzipaned this early? I used BBC quick and easy fruit cake and it's lovely when I made a 14" anniversary cake.

Yes I liked the look of this in the catalogue. Might pop into store and see it close up before I decide.

Another fan of the delia one. Waitrose sold all the ingredients bar the fresh stuff like eggs and butter in a pack for £10 last year which was great as didn't have anything else to do and didn't want loads of half bags of currants etc left over. I've emailed them to ask if they're doing the same this year and they are from oct 24th.

Just as a note Sainsburys are doing the same thing, in store now. I think they do one back for the cake and one for decorating.

(Hope the quotes attached okay, first time I've done it!):)

I've not marzipanned mine anymore than 2 weeks before Christmas at most but i do use homemade marzipan. I think most people would say it's usual for 2-3 weeks before icing it. I like to feed my cake weekly until it's marzipanned so te later tge better for me.
