wireless problem

Hi
I recently reinstalled windows xp on an old laptop, the problem is i cant find my own wireless network, i can find the neighbours and a some bt openzone ones , but not my own. Any ideas/help would be much appreciated.

    Have you set you router not to broadcast it's ID? I spent half an hour recently trying to get my niece's new laptop to connect to my sister's router, before I remembered I'd set this - doh!
    Good enough is good enough, and I am more than good enough!:j

    I suppose you already checked the router is connected and the wifi is ON.
    Try "Refresh Network List" a few times, see if it pops up or perhaps check the configuration of the network card? For example if your router is broadcasting "n" only and your network card is set to "b&g" or "b" only you will not be able to see it (although some network cards do).

  • hi, ye the router is on and broadcasting, ill check the wireless card if i can work out how, have tried refreshing a few times, turning the wireless on and off but it still cant find my own network just everyone elses, thank you all for your help.

    Does your wireless have WPA or WPA2 encryption? If so you need to make sure XP Service Pack 3 is installed. If you have got automatic updates set it should download.

    support for WPA/WPA2 was in SP2.....
