Pixmania or Amazon

Options
Son wants to buy a canon camera. He is a bit undecided, Pixmania from France offers 2 yrs warranty and Amazon Uk offers 1 yr. They are both about the same price. I told him to buy from Amazon as they are UK based although only 1 yr warranty if something should go wrong with the camera. 2 yrs warranty is very tempting, what would you recommend? Pixmania or Amazon. Thanks

  • pixmania you have to return to france if anything goes wrong. but a canon is a canon, and you would be extremely unfortunate if anything went wrong as canon are a superior and reliable brand.i've used a canon powershot for years and no problems!

Pixmania is owned by Dixons Stores group, the warranty would be held by CAnon who have a UK depot for repairs, we had a Canon camera that spent a lot of time there over it's lifetime.

  • AVOID PIXMANIA - my husband had a nightmare when the HDD Recorder he ordered was faulty. Sent it back to France (£26.85 postage) and, despite numerous e-mails, it was a couple of months before they agreed it was faulty and sent a replacement. Nine months later and the postal charges have still not been re-imbursed!!!

Have no idea if it would work, but maybe you could try haggling with amazon by ringing or emailing and pointing out you could get a better deal else where, might be worth a try.
  • I would go for AMAZON! No second thoughts?

    Any discounts you got?

Yeah I have had trouble with certain goods from Amazon and there was no trouble whatsoever sorting it out. Heard nothing but problems with pretty much any other internet retailer as soon as you want to return something. Not so with Amazon in my experience.

    Amazon recommended all the way!!!

    TOO TRUE!

I ordered a cannon selphy printer from pixmania and it was dead on arrivial. It took months and the threat of both legal action and unleashing trading standards to get the refund, don't do it. Amazon may be slightly dearer but their customer service is excellent.
