Outside pipe insurance

Just got a letter from thames water about insuring my outside water pipe. It's only £18 a year. Just wondering whether it is worth taking. According to them 1 in 11 suffer from a leak or broken pipe. I have got plumbing and drains froom BG but they do not cover outside pipes. Thanks

What does the insurance cover?
Does your existing building insurance already cover the same thing?Warning ..... I'm a peri-menopausal axe-wielding maniac0 -
Its insurance to cover the pipe from the water meter to the point it enters the property.£2 Coins Savings Club 2012 is £4

OK - but what "events" does it cover? e.g. damage by vehicles driving over it? Freezing?
My guess is that your buildings insurance might cover some - or even all - of the events offered by the Thames Water policyWarning ..... I'm a peri-menopausal axe-wielding maniac0 -

The insurance covers against the risk of a water supply pipe emergency created for thames warer by Homeserve. I am already paying £26+ a month for homecare 400.0 -

I think you'll need to read the small print to see exactly what a "water supply pipe emergency" is. I have to admit ... it means nothing to me and I would be sceptical that the small print excludes certain claims.
But - sorry to repeat this - I think you need to see if your existing buildings policy already includes the same cover.Warning ..... I'm a peri-menopausal axe-wielding maniac0
