Ok I know he's your brother...but if he is doing this on a regular basis I don't think you're actually helping him by letting him get away with it! INSIST he pays his keep or he's out, you cannot afford to keep him (else you wouldn't be here with us!) so tell him that, & the more money he gives to you the less he can spend on booze & gambling therefore you're actually helping him by making him take some responsibility for himself. Go on Dawn - life is too short for letting someone (even your own siblings) walk all over you!
Oh don't worry,I do make him pay! Trouble is, he went off last week on some kind of bender and came back penniless. He says he has a job interview on Monday (doubt if he will get it - he doesn't usually, and I wouldn't employ him). Having said that, isn't really lazy; he normally does agency temping on labouring in factories and places, but that seems to have dried up now. I will make him go and sign on next week if necessary, as I really can't afford to keep him. There is only me working, and don't see why I should in any case. I really wish he wasn't here all the time at all - obviously visits are ok, the odd weekend and Christmas, fine, but really don't need it all the time, kids are grown up and OH and I could really do with a bit of peace and quiet
Trouble is, he would end up on the streets if I slung him out (he has before) and I don't think I could do that with winter coming on :eek:0 -
Morning all:)
Been AWOL again but have been reading when I can and keeping on the straight and narrow. This weekend, I have/will:
Painted kitchen. Been overdue for ages, finally got round to it. Most of what we need DH bought with a gift card he had for his birthday :T
Bought all childrens presents for Christmas last night on line using various vouchers and cash back sites. First time ever I have money saved in present account :j the isn't loads as only have one DD but buy for a few others and got them too. Now I just need to update my pressie spreadsheet and also my finance one too
Lots of washing, dry inside
Meals from stores except last night when we had a cheap takeaway as kitchen was still in disarray:o
More sorting out and decluttering where I can. Will try and list a couple of bits on eBay tonight if I can
Clear out car as I'm getting a new one tomorrow :j:j:j it's a work car so no additional cost to me. Actually I'll be better off as I decided to 'trade down' the option they gave me so I they pay me a supplement to do this roll on pay day :rotfl:
Made a decision to pay off a little bit of money that had accumulated on a CC that has a bit of interest on. So used some of my savings. Need to work to build that back up.
DH made overpayment to last CC and even with the above withdrawal our saving now exceed the value on the CC:D so whilst not DF, we could be in theory if that makes sense, just holding off as card is on 0%:money:
Get ready for week ahead. On line food shop coming tonight (used voucher of course) make sure I've got everything I need ready
Do some ironing re above!
Have a great day everyone0 -

Ah...do the housing agencies not get involved at all then? If he's out of work at the moment he must be on some sort of benefits etc, including housing.
Will keep my fingers crossed the interview goes well! x:idea:Debt at July 2012: £12,862.57

Morning gang,
My list is pretty similar to yesterdays - going to pop over to my parents to see my sister & little niece, she's grown so much already in just 6 weeks!
My plan:-- Charge phone via pc
- [STRIKE]Food from stores[/STRIKE]
- Dinner from meal plan - OH randomly ordered pizza instead...:wall:
- Check for surveys
- Enter comps
- [STRIKE]Check online banking[/STRIKE]
- [STRIKE]Check out this weeks flylady thread & do something[/STRIKE]
- [STRIKE]Pop to Mr T's - stick to list![/STRIKE]
- [STRIKE]Return unused item for refund[/STRIKE], better to have the money in the bank than an item cluttering up the house
- [STRIKE]Plan my halloween costume so I don't end up buying things last minute![/STRIKE] - Shouldn't need to buy much at all as I have suitable clothes, yay!
- Plan some xmas presents
- [STRIKE]Told OH not to put on heating[/STRIKE], put on an extra layer...no wonder it's so warm in here!
Have a great, MSE day everyone x:idea:Debt at July 2012: £12,862.57

Morning/afternoon!
I went to the posh do last night in a posh frock and shoes and had an ok time but nothing special - speeches went on forever and food was average (always is when you're a veggie:().
It was like a cross between a freemasons meeting and a wedding - very strange - not my scene really. I also bought a bottle of wine for me and my friend at £18 (cheapest one!) and had only 1 glass! It got mysteriously emptied when we went to the loo...... The cheek of it!
And I had to buy a raffle ticket at £10 each!
So I managed to spend £40 by the taxi and bits and pieces were paid for - not worth it!
Anyway, at least there was no hangover! Tired today though. Also had to pay £25 for the kennels for the dog and petrol to get there - bit of an expensive night out:mad:
Anyway, nothing really planned for today apart from school work and dog walking and making some nice tea (using stuff that's in the fridge and cupboard).
Also planning to not spend anything after yesterday's entravaganze.
Hope everyone has a good Sunday...0 -
