Think I'm being ripped off what do I do?

Options
Not sure if I have posted this in the correct place so appologies if I have. Anyway my hubby bought me a flip down tv for christmas

http://www.in21now.co.uk/e_site/acatalog/Kitchen_TV.html

Model no TVF8DFS for £299.99

Well it was for the kitchen and the first thing in the instruction manual when I opened it xmas day was 'warning do not use in areas of high moisture' 'Do not use in kitchens or bathrooms'. It was no good for the purpose & not what I wanted for xmas so hubby rang on 27/12 to explain. They told him that he had to send it back insured by royal mail, once recieved they would check for any damage (obviously none it wasn't even removed from the box!) and they would refund the money within 2 days back onto his mastercard.

Sent it back 29/12 costing £11.20 and allowed for delay due to being new year but rang back on 5/1 to check. Was told they had recieved it & money would be back on card. Again nothing so rang again 11/1 to be told that we would be recieving a cheque & it was being posted that day. Waited until tuesday 23/1 to ring again as no cheque recieved. Was told manager 'warren' would be in thursday that they had sent a cheque on 6/1 which is a lie as they told him on 11/1 it was being sent that day.

Anyway on thursday was told it was going to be put back on my card by friday but again nothing. What do I do? These robbing gits have £299.99 of my cash & i'm being charged interest on it.

Whats the best way forward? Any suggestions appreciated
cheers

I have an LCD tv in my kitchen which says on the instructions that it is not suitable for kitchens and it has been fine so far (will undoubtedly now go wrong today).

Perhaps now the time has come to contact the card company and explain to them. Do you have anything in writing to prove to the card company you are awaiting this refund as that would help with your request for a chargeback. Simply bringing them into the loop might be enough to stir this company into making the refund themselves.
  • we have the royal mail proof of posting & insurance reciept. We have also got an email from them on 12/1 saying they will credit the card back shortly. Do you think this could be used as evidence? They are a really dodgy company. Everytime my hubby rings its the same person and the 'manager' is never there. I think the person he speaks to is in fact the manager.

I wouldn't like to take the risk of the tv in my kitchen as I have a tumble dryer which is constantly on.

Also its totally impractical as its an 8inch screen we'd have to sit there with binoculars to watch it!

    Thanks for replying

It certainly sounds as though you have enough evidence to make a claim through the card company. Your hubby will need to ring them as it is his card and they will advise him what to do. They should send him a form to complete with all the details and if the refund hasn't been actioned by the time they get it back with the evidence, I would expect them to simply recall the money themselves and put it back onto the card.
  • cheers hun

Will get hubby to contact credit card peeps to sort this out. Thanks so much for your help
