Paypal Verification

I have a minimal amount left that I can withdraw from Paypal at the moment. I have completed the first 2 steps to being verified (bank funding, account info) but now I'm being asked to supply merchant information.
Now I only sell on ebay occasionally but its got more frequent recently after a christmas clearout so I need to raise the limit but I'm afraid they make recognise me as a business?
Or is the information I provide for their use only?

This is a legal requirement put on PayPal to supposedly help stop money laundering. There is really nothing you can do but accept if you wish to use PayPal.

Now where that information goes will have a conspiracy theory all of its own!! Do we live in a free society? Well ater this government has finished I very much doubt it.

Short answer is no. But it has been quite a few years since I did it, so I'm not sure if they have changed any of the rules.

Hopefully someone more recently verified might come along soon.

FAQ - BUSINESS / MERCHANT INFORMATION
I'm not a business so why are PayPal asking me to provide that sort of information?

In order to verify a Premier or Business account PayPal will ask you to Supply Merchant Information, set up Bank Funding and Validate your Location.

You must complete all three steps for the account to become verified and to lift your sending and withdrawal limits. PayPal does this to protect the security of its service.

To complete the 'Supply Merchant Information' form you will need to:

    - Log in to your account at https://www.paypal.com/
    - Click 'Profile'.
    - Click the 'Business Information' link in the 'Account Information' column.
    - Click the 'Edit' button. You will be asked to complete the following information:
    - Business Type - if you are not a Business you can select 'Individual' from the drop down menu

Thanks for all your help, I didn't think of reading the Ebay pages!
