Not sure this is the right place....
I have worked for my present employer for 17.5 years....I suffer badly with general/social anxiety disorder....whch I take daily medication for.
This makes going into situations where I do not know anyone very difficult.
I really want to take this job...but am worried my lack of confidence and anxiety disorder is going to stop me from doing so.
How do other people in this siutation cope/manage?
Please do not reply if you thik this is just a case of feeling 'nervous'....as its not it is a completely differet level to that!!

A friend of mine deals with this situation by in her head pretending she is someone she admirers, someone with loads of confidence. Faking it is the best cause of action, as eventualy the confidence does come. For me it was dieing my hair bright purple.... an extreme thing to do, but made me feel oh so much more confident. Anxiety is a horrible thing, that unless people have sufferd with it, they will never understand. I hope you find a coping strategy and take the job0

Thank you, you are so right, no-one can understand unless they've suffered with it...it is quite disabling at times. I am on medication, maybe I should go see my GP and discuss this with him.

It really is worth talking to your doctor, as there may be another form of medication that could work better for you. I found the medications I have tried just did nothing for me, apart from cause insomnia, currently looking for something that works.0
