Does the 'bill' have a pre-pay slip at the bottom? If not, then its a statement and nothing to worry about - although you may want to call them so that they can take the current readings and settings from your meter.
If it does, then you need to make a note of the meter serial number and readings/setting and call nPower asap to clear up the meter confusion - if this is the case they probably have you as being on a 'credit' meter not a pre-pay and you need to sort this with them ASAP. This situation will NOT go away!!0 -

It is confusing, i am with Npower and they send me statements which have the payment slip at the bottom. I have queried it with them in the past only to be told it is not a bill.Best Wins of 2010 = Apple ipad & £100 Dejager vouchers:j:jJune Prizes = Kids Card game, Miners nail polish set,L'oreal million lashes mascara.0

lol yup we had the same; completely different reference number [but same name and address] and saying that we are 70+ squid in credit. ringing on monday to see what they say.
BTW we are currently on per-pay; switching next month to npower both G+E £60/month - is that good>?
BG were asking for over £80/month - ridiculas [reminds me of arry otter!]

Having pre-payment meters doesn't mean you won't get a bill.
The cost setting on the meter may not match the actual rate you are charged.
Before the continuous price rises, it was quite common at the end of the year to have paid more into the meter than you actually used, and people often got a cheque back around Christmas time. However as prices have been rising pretty quickly, people often fail to pop in the tariff update card sent to them, or the supplier fails to send out an update card.
For example your meter maybe set to a rate of 8p/KWh, yet the actual rate you should be paying maybe 9p/KWh, this means the money you are putting on your meter doesn't cover your fuel usage. It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... It's no one not noone, It's a lot not alot, It's got not gotten... Panini is the plural of panino - there is no S!!(OK my English isn't great, the sciences, maths & IT are my strong points!)0
