Sold my MX5 today, however, decided to sell hardtop, hardtop case & stand seperatly.
Just wondering where the best place to advertise these & what prices could I expect?

Advertise for free on MSE ... you can post a message asking for advice on where best to advertise the items you have for sale, and may be try to get a duscussion going to keep your post bumped by asking for suggestions on how much you might get0

Simplest solution would be to have sold it to the person who bought your car! :doh:0

I'd try specialist forums related to the MX5. I sold my Audi hardtop through mentioning it on an audi forum while it was advertised on ebay.
I found selling it with the car would have made me far less money than a separate sale.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -

Not what I'm doing, so your assumption is incorrect.
The reason I posted asking advice is: I have put MX5 in part ex & the garage didn't want the hardtop.
Overall, I have lost quite a bit of money as I stupidly paid over the odds for the MX5 in the first place, so really need a decent return on the hardtop ect.. Just didn't have a clue where to advertise it or even how much I should be expecting.
There is nothing dodgy in my intentions. I have been a member of this forum for quite a number of years & have never abused my membership.0 -
MX5 Owners club forum if you're a member. If not the best place is Ebay. I sold mine and got £500 for it a couple of years ago. Now is a good time to sell due to the onset of winter.
Gumtree is also a good place to sell and also Pistonheads as there is free advertising and no sellers fees.0 -
Ah..never thought of pistonheads.
Thanks I will check it out :beer:0 -
Not everyone wants to pay a premium to have a hard top - personally i wouldnt want one.
Therefore the O/P is being very MSE by selling the top separately to get maximum return.
:money:
But at least could have offered it to them. The greater danger, for most of us, lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low and achieving our mark0 -
You'll struggle with Pistonheads, it's not very good at selling accessories as the search function is pretty poor. The 2 best places to sell are MX5OC and MX5NUTZ. However, to advertise on MX5OC you need to be a member which costs money and to advertise on MX5NUTZ you need to be an active member, minimum 25 post count.
The only place you'll realistically sell it is Ebay.0
