Candle wax on laminate..help!!

I managed to knock a fabreeze candle off my fireplace & the melted wax ended up all over my laminate flooring.

I have managed to chip most of it off, however, it's now left a horrid waxy coating & I have no idea how to get rid of it.

Any recommendations (other than "don't knock candle off fireplace") would be appreciated :)

  • Have you tried warming with a hair dryer gently to remove residue? Might work ;)

No, not tried that. What could I use to "mop" up the residue?

    Brown paper should work

    was you drunk love ?

try some surgigal spirit then rinse imediately
  • Iron the area (low heat) using brown paper. You'll need to do this over and over. Usually, you'd polish up (this is the same method used on furniture) but being a floor, it would be very slippery. So, dependent on how it feels to you, maybe clean, using your usually cleaner or cover (with a rug or kitchen paper), until the slippyness has reduced.
  • Nope Karl I wasn't drunk..just tried to pick the candle up whilst it was hot....the rest is self explanatory lol.

Tried the iron brown paper method & it's been relatively successful.

Thanks for all the advice

If by 'relatively successful' you mean it's left a film of wax, you might want to try putting either a few sheets of kitchen roll over the mark or an old disposable cloth, then pouring a little boiling water from the kettle on it. Not much though. I have spilt wax on laminate twice when moving candles from one end of the room to another, I also spilt wax on the hob when trying to light a candle as I couldn't find a lighter:o A splash of boiling water and kitchen roll did the trick. :)
