Hiya
Could anyone please give me advice on setting up an internet dating website please? (I know my question doesn't give a good start huh?).I know it is saturated but I think I have some unique ideas and would like to try them out. From what I have heard and seen, it is minimum start up so I wont regret much if it is unsuccessful.
Anyway, I have been researching on companies that do web hosting , I think I was looking at 1&1 for web hosting and buying the domain name (.com is 8.99).
I have some queries and would be grateful for some answers to help me make a start please.
1. What kind of size would I need to accommodate a website like this?
2. How many pages would you recommend?
3. Would you recommend a particular programme or do they provide you with the programmes when you buy the space? (A long time ago when I was a little bit more in techie stuff I used a bit of Dreamweaver). Would I need something like this?
4. Have you got any companies I should host the website with please?
5. Would you be able to advise me on the legal stuff I need, tax, etc?
6. Are they any other aspects of this venture I need to consider please?
Thanks and looking forward to your replies .

1-2. Depends totally on the number of users and how the site is coded (some technologies need more power than others)
3. You won't be able to do this with a normal website creation programme like dreamweaver I'd expect as you would need a lot of programming (unless it was a forum like this but that wouldn't be very private) - you'd most likely need to hire a programmer
4. I'd recommend a good VPS or dedicated server - possibly even a cloud server if you can afford it
5. You'd need to pay tax on any income (subscriptions, ad revenue etc.) but you could deduct the cost of running the site such as server costs etc. - though this is accounting not techie stuff
6. The market is saturated and in order to implement your unique ideas you'll need a good programmer which will cost a decent amount (not to mention all the advertising - the big sites like match.com buy tv advertising etc.)0 -
is that where you operate under a bigger company? i don't really know anything about it. could you please shed a bit more light on it for me?Beginning our debt free journey.. mostly for our baby boy!!:A0

Whie label is where a company that is already established set you up with an exact copy of their website but with your own branding on it.
The positives are that little programming knowledge is required and you get a complete site.
Drawbacks are that you and everyone else will have the same styled site making it harder to rank and if you want to add more features, you can't.
But, they can be good for gettiing started and seeing how things work in the area you are interested in.
Ah ok. thanks. i will look into it.Beginning our debt free journey.. mostly for our baby boy!!:A0
