Ticket booked in error - non-refundable?

Someone I know and love (really, not me!) booked a single VIP ticket for a concert launched today (no names but 5,6,7,8!!!) Instead of booking 4 normal tickets for c£160 he bought one single VIP package for £160. We've been told it's non-refundable and are currently waiting a call back to see if they will let us based on the fact that we are cancelling on the same day as we booked. We won't find out now until Monday but I was wondering if anyone else has been through this. Is it really true you can't cancel once you have bought it? Many thanks!

Generally you can't cancel tickets, but you may be able to resell it through Viagogo or Seatwave. I'm not sure if there are more restrictions being VIP

You MAY get away with it if you tried to cancel via TM customer services on the day you booked. If they told you wait until Monday then make sure you say you wanted to cancel on the day of purchase.

In the past they have cancelled tickets I've bought on the day only. But they don't advertise it and the customer services person had to get authority from their line manager.
