DLA is for care and mobility.

Worst case scenario is if you dont get it, yo wont be any worse off than you are now.

No point in worryign about it now anyway, its done, just be patient and wait to get their answer, if you dont get it I think
the general consensus is to appeal.

Like I say, just wait and see.
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.

They will prob wrtite to your gp cpn or consultant for more information or get an atos drs report. your form is just one part of the decision.

I applied for dla back in May, I got a letter early September refusing it and I have sent in an appeal letter which they have said could take upto 11 weeks for a decision.
  • Only my opinion but if you feel you haven't sent enough info in and CAN get hold of reports to back you or add extra info you've only just thought might be relevant then personally I'd send it on now.You could give them a call and tell them extra supporting evidence is on its way, they'll hold the claim and then look at it once they have everything and you're happy you've supplied full info.Pre warn anyone you named on the form involved in your care(GP etc) that they may be contacted and if you haven't seen them recently book an appt to update them on your current situation etc.

Only reason I say this is we just did what we considered a simple renewal, sent in what we thought was more than enough info and got a huuuge shock to have our higher rate mobility/higher rate care reduced to zero mobility/lower rate care.So we had to then go round getting recent reports from a few health professionals, request a reconsideration and face a stressful wait and finally got the higher rate back this week without having to go to appeal thankfully.

I just think it's better to get every single little thing relevant to your claim in initially and hopefully give you a better chance of initial success and try to avoid a recon/appeal situation.wishing you the best of luck xxx

You can send in more information.
Especially if you sent the form in before the deadline, you can ask to delay it as you've sent in more information.

If you have not adequately made your case, then you will have to appeal. Either asking for your case to be reconsidered by the DWP (at this stage you can also send in more info), or to an independent tribunal.

Eventually - in the latter case - you will appear in front of a tribunal of 3(?) people, who will decide your case, based on the documents, and your answers.
  • Thanks, My health is deteriorating so I hope its sorted soon.
