Car Insurance Quotations

Hi,
I just passed my car test and am thinking of getting a car, I realise that insurance will be a major part of the cost, and want to get an idea of the insurance costs before I buy the car.

So my question is, do insurance companies run credit checks on quotes? as I may want to check several cars with a few companies, and if they all run checks.....my credit rating would be totally trashed very quickly.

I would possibly opt for monthly payments, so this would involve a credit agreement I guess.

Hi, I have found that they sometimes do searches even if you put down to pay annually, however these are usually only generic identity searches that are only visible to you so any other company searching your file will not be aware of them.

Some do run credit checks, but will tell you prior to doing so. They shouldn't "trash" your credit rating though!

If you disagree about this, then don't use your true identity when just playing around with quotes online, and then just put in your real identity when you have chosen an insurer.

wow, had 2 quotes so far, one for 1200, one for 4400, on the same car......the 4400 quote is through Swinton, the same people that I currently have my motorcycle insurance with, wow
