Hi All!
I am total useless twonk when it comes to do with cars! My main issue is the financial side of things, so for some independent advice this forum seems a good place to start. I am looking to buy a car, either new or second hand and was wondering what you think about the following:
1) How new do you think I should buy to make it ecomonically sensible?!
2) Diesel or petrol (I do 6-8 30 mile trips on the motorway to work a week, plus am often burning another hole in the Ozone visiting friends and family all over the country at the weekends, plus several local journeys a week).
I've been looking a new/nearly new Seat Ibizas, that sort of size car would be perfect for me.
Thanks!

1) Over 3 years old - the majority of depreciation is in the first few years.
2) Diesel in your case - you do sufficient mileage. You'll pay more when you buy the car but you'll also get a higher price when you sell it.
Avoid Seat - they're bargain basement VW Audi (VAG) Group built in Spain by the Spanish who are good at taking naps during the day but little else. Look at Skoda who are also VAG but built better.0 -
Unless you're considering holding onto the car for a long time, then i wouldn't buy new. You'll be able to pick up a decent second hand car for a fraction of the price.
I know it's boring, and there are alot of them on the road however VW, Audi are good places to start when looking.
Actually the new 2012 A3 is out soon..........................................awesome0 -
