hi
i have an item listed on ebay which has 9 watchers and finishing sunday evening. Someone asked if i'd do buy it now this morning and i, thinking at least it would be a sure sale agreed. I haven't changed the listing to buy it now yet though. Now i think i'd be better off to let the auction run. I have emailed the person to tell her this but am worried i'm obliged to let her buy. What do you think?
Thanks everyone

How long is that piece of string?
If you are happy with the price offered then take it, if you will always wonder, then don't!0 -
Have you checked how much similar items have gone for?
9 watches is usually a good sign and the strong bids tend to be cast very late in the auction.
I don't see why you are obliged to sell.0 -
i'm more worried that i'd emailed the potential buyer with a price never thinking she'd say ok. Now she says she wants to buy it now at the price i said but i don't want to end the auction - i think i'd get more to let it run. Am i obliged to sell or can she give me bad feedback because of this?0

No she can't leave bad feedback unless she won your auction. Block her from bidding if you are worried, but that might prevent a sale of course.
Just politly say you have had second thoughts and will let the auction finish.0 -
thanks very much for your advice, it's appreciated0

Some people do ask for a BIN in hope to get the item cheap, my guess would be that she will still bid at least what she offered you.
There's always that chance she gets it for less but you do have plenty of interest. Just watch the price rise in the last few seconds...........hopefully!0 -
If the price is right, and in line with your expectations now, and you have no other bids, then a bird in the hand is worth two in the bush.
I know 9 watchers is a lot, but I'm always sceptical until they bid. Yes, they might bid, but equally they could forget or find something else in the meantime.
If it's a low-ball bid, though, you don't have to take them up on the offer. I've been burned in all different scenarios that this can throw up and so I usually take serious offers if they are made, as I've usually been disappointed otherwise."Well, it's election year, Bill, we'd rather people didn't exercise common sense..." - Jed Bartlet, The West Wing, season 4

With regards to watcher; you really shouldn't take much notice of them as they're watching and not bidding. Some might be interested in it, some might have one them self and wondering how much they sell for and some might just be watching it because they're curious. For example; I'm watching this http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/160663961380?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649 i have absolutely no intention of buying it or bidding on it. I'm just watching it to see just how stupid some people are, and see how much it sells for.0
