Petrol price shown on pump is different to price at pay booth
Options
At my local ASDA petrol filling station, the total price of fuel purchased at the pump differs ALWAYS by one Penny when I go to pay at the pay booth. I know that it is only 1p extra each time, but if that is multiplied by thousands of motorists over a year, it's a good deal of profit. Being so irritated by this, I deliberately bought £30.09 worth of fuel. Sure enough when I came to pay it was £30.10. I then went into the main store and asked to see a Manager. None available but my name and phone number was taken with a promise of a Manager contacting me later that day. Nothing heared from them. Should this be allowed to continue as it's been going on for months now?

It is covered by weights and measures and could see them land a very large fine indeed.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0

what happens if you put £3.10 in or £3.11? if you put £3.11 in and they start charging you £3.10 then you're onto a winner.0

Last time I used an Asda filling station, I put in exactly £10 and walked to the booth and handed over a £10 note. Never got told I was short.0

It's actually covered in the pattern approval of the petrol pump and is permitted to happen. When fuel flows through the pump, it passes through a meter which determines how much fuel passes through. Unfortunately, especially with the price of petrol as it is, these are very sensitive, and a small amount of fuel can "knock" it so that it puts the price up a little, which sometimes happens when you place the hose back.
It's perfectly legal and there is nothing that can be done about it.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -

that sounds like an excuse and not a particularly convincing one at that.
I tend towards...I squeeze the trigger, fuel flows into my tank and I get charged, I release the trigger, fuel stops and so does charging.
The meter measures flow and once I release the trigger there should be no flow and if the meter is saying there is then either there is a leak or the meter is defective.0 -

Im only trying to explain how it happens, and that is how it does happen. Feel free to ask trading standards who will tell you exactly the same.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. Why vent at Asda think GO should be the source of your frustration. He wants another 4p in the new year on every single litre.
You quite often see this when trying to round up to a pound when vending. Used to be quite easy, nigh on impossible these days."If you act like an illiterate man, your learning will never stop... Being uneducated, you have no fear of the future.".....
