insurance only covers half a kitchen

Has anyone had this problem? I had a water leak, the insurance agreed to replace kitchen base units, but not my existing wall units. They no longer exist to buy to match up. Similar problem with wall tiles. What do I do? They seem to think I should put all the existing kitchen doors back on but some are damaged. Should I agree to live in a mismatched kitchen? Thanks.

Yipn it happens all the time. They'll only replace the damaged ones.
Why don't you replace the doors on the wall units to match the new ones?Official DFW nerd no 551 - proud to be dealing with my debts

Check with the FOS on this, as they have some guidance on this issue.
To get you started. http://www.financial-ombudsman.org.uk/publications/ombudsman-news/10/oct-houshold-disasters.htm
Scroll down the fos page linked re matching sets and search the FOS site for more info.
Once you have the info you need, speak to your Insurers about the settlement breakdown and how this meets the FOS guidance.
Nb. They won't pay for a whole new kitchen, when only part had been damaged. The comments I post are personal opinion. Always refer to official information sources before relying on internet forums. If you have a problem with any organisation, enter into their official complaints process at the earliest opportunity, as sometimes complaints have to be started within a certain time frame.0
