Hi, I'm planning a wedding and been put in a nice but tricky pickle! Extended family have offered free booze which would save a fortune on drinks packages but need a venue that doesn't charge corkage but still does food options. I'm based in north west, any sugegstions?

I think your only option with this would be to hire a hall or marquee and call in the caterers. Even the most liberal hotel or restaurant is going to at least charge you something for corkage, the drinks are after all where they make a heap of money.
Corkage varies from venue to venue, it can be as little as a pound a bottle, which in the grand scheme of things might be worth paying.
Where abouts in the North West are you looking? (I was in the wedding business in Morecambe and have experience of all around the area including the lakes and through to Blackpool, if you give me a better idea I can probably tell you some more about some venues)Softstuff- Officially better than 0070 -
but am planning a dinner/dance at our local (but not to you unfortunately!) hotel and plan on raising the matter of corkage with them as well.
The approach I am going to take is that
a) I only want to provide the wine for the meal so I won't be eating into their 'bar profits'
b) the hotel will be full with people staying over - perhaps this is something you could use as leverage as well.
c) its for charity.
Will be interesting how I get on!2014 Target;

Though B and C might help you with the negotiations, saying that providing wine with a meal isn't eating into bar profits isn't true - without your wine on the table, wouldn't the guests be drinking something else purchased from the hotel???Softstuff- Officially better than 0070 -

We are getting married at Walcot Hall in Shropshire for a similar reason. Take a look0 -
I would have loved to find a venue with no corkage (£7.50 seems the cheap end of the scale here :eek:) but have had no luck
I'm still looking mind you primarily as I would like to provide the wine at an affordable rate and the prices for wine at the reception is just extortionate
*sigh* DFW Nerd #025DFW no more! Officially debt free 2017 - now joining the MFW's!

as suggested unless you hire a hall type venue,
or erect a marquee in an large garden etc you arent going to find a venue that charges zero ,zilch ,nothing for corkage !!!0
