Yesterday a work friend of mine received a cheque for nearly £5000 from Barclaycards for his PPI claim so when I got home I told my daughters to check their accounts.
It transpires that my older daughter has been paying it on her Nationwide credit card since she has had the card. At the time she got it she was a student so had no use for it, she cannot recall ever agreeing to it and she does not have any paperwork relating to it. She phoned Nationwide and cancelled the insurance and told them she wanted to make a claim but they told her she would have to claim against Pinnacle Insurance as they are the providers, my daughter has never had any dealings with Pinnacle and had never heard pf them. I just want to know where and how we should start her claim? Many thanks in advance for your help.

Hi there
You pursue the ones if you want to make a reclaim on the ppi - the ones who sold the account.
I could be wrong but maybe the bank are thinking a "claim" and not a reclaim.
That will make a difference to them if you know what I mean, even though if cancelled.
I understand it will be NW you complain to and you complete the reclaim questionnaire as on step 3 below, do not worry about the paperwork the account number is fine, so the insurance number is also that of the card account number.
Remember to keep copies as well, good luck.

They are wrong and ignorance of the rules is no excuse.
Send a fax to 017 9365 5218 detailing your complaint. Tell them that you telephoned on 13 October but they incorrectly told you to pursue the insurers. Therefore the 8 weeks to get a response issued began on 13 October and ends on 2 December.
That is not to say that it will be upheld, simply the timescales.
If the sale was not advised and the wrong box was ticked there is no requirement to uphold the complaint as it is a mispurchase, not a missale.0
