Anybody aware of 0330 numbers?

I have just discovered this new "non geographical" alternative to 0870 or 0844... supposedly it costs "the same as a geographical call"... but that is the same they say about the others.
I looked at the "UK cal checker" and this number is not listed. Calling my provider (talktalk) to ask might take me a week before anybody answers the telephone, so I wonder if anybody knows how much it is charged.
Thanks!

    They've been in use for some time now &,according to a Googling;
03 numbers were introduced by Ofcom as a non-geographic alternative to chargeable 08 numbers such as 0870. Calls to 03 numbers cost the same as calls to standard geographic numbers (i.e. those beginning 01 or 02).

Unlike any other non geographic number range, calls to 03 numbers must also be included in any inclusive call minute packages or discount schemes offered by fixed and mobile network operators and from payphones. Revenue sharing is specifically disallowed on 03 numbers..

All 03 numbers are treated the same as 01/02 numbers for charging purposes. If you have inclusive minutes they are included.

Yes I had read that, but they also say 0870 and 0844 "cost the same as a local call". What you mean is, in the case of 0330, if I have a flat rate for UK numbers, those are included, right? It does not happen withe the other NGNs....

Only if the customer has inclusive minutes. EG if the customer only had inclusive evening/weekend calls, calls to the number would be chargeable at peak rate.

Where does it say 0870 and 0844 cost the same as a local call ?

All i can find is that 0845/0870 are inclusive where appropriate as are 01//02/03 numbers.

03 numbers will definitely be included in your inclusive minutes if you have them. Alternatively most will be charged at the rate for dialling 01 or 02 numbers. This is the same whether you're calling from a mobile or a land line.

Some 03 numbers (I think it's 0300) are free of charge when calling them, but these are for charities' use so not your standard company contact number.

The point to remember is that there is no such thing as a 'Local Call Rate' and there hasn't been for a good many years.

Any reference to this is erroneous and should always be ignored - the same too goes for a 'National Rate' (ie 'Long Distance') call - there is only one definition, that the call begins with 01, 02 or 03 for a landline call, in which case the standard rate for the call is charged OR it forms part of any inclusive bundle of calls provided with the line.

    HI All,

@Ypaymore - This is why I advised they are inclusive in the tariff. The tariff will denote if this is evenign and weekend or anytime as TT only offer these two tariff options. In both cases 03 numbers are inclusive in the same way as 01 or 02 numbers.

@buzby - you are correct that most telephony suppliers operating at present do not differential billing of local and national calls. These are still grouped seperately but usually charged the same. When 0845 was released this was call "Low-Call" rate which has the audible similarity to Local and often lead to a misunderstanding of the 0845 rates.

The advantage of 03 numbers is that you can call them on your mobile using inclusive minutes if you have free minutes on a contract (but not payg of course).

Anything starting with 0870 etc would be chargeable on 'standard' mobile contracts.
