Hello, I want to upgrade my RAM, I only have 256 at the mo, it's DDR PC3200, the receipt from the shop said it's a 'Major Brand'.
What i'd like to know is can I add a 512 stick as well as the 256 to my motherboard or do both sticks have to be identical?
The motherboard is an ASUS P5VDC-MX.
Thanks

DDR2 is the newer faster standard
DDR is the older slower and cheaper standard
i would go for the DDR2 memory0 -
Thanks for the replies chaps, one of those websites says i can use different densities, does that mean I can use 256 and 512 as long as they are both PC3200 and DDR?0

Gaming_guy, I know you are right but I only bought the motherboard and RAM about 3 weeks ago so I'm not chucking the DDR which I have now away. If only I knew then what I know now

That would leave a surplus 256MB DDR module though.
You'd have to try and sell it off cheap on ebay maybe.
