Home Contents Insurance

A part of Home contents Insurance is the section which you buy as an extra and covers personal property taken away from the home. It is sometimes known as 'All Risks'. AXA Insurance call this section 'Personal Possessions' and they have an exclusion clause which states, 'For items not in the care, custody or control of you or your family or an authorised person'. This means that if, for example, you mislay something you will not be covered which effectivly makes this type of cover worthless. Unfortunatly AXA allow you to believe the cover is still 'All Risks'. They have used this clause to disallow a claim for my stolen mobile phone. The clause is perfectly legal but morally illegal. The Financial Insurance Ombudsman Service have upheld AXA's decsion and have said that 'This restriction of cover is common to most household insurance policies'. This is news to me and the first company I contacted to check this, Barclays Insurance, have no such restriction. Be aware if your policy has this exclusion.

You need to give more detail of what happened as your post doesnt actually make much sense.
From what I can see you are saying the item was stolen whilst someone else had the item in which case PP would not cover the claim as the person you had entrusted the item to would be liable for its safe keepingAll posts made are simply my own opinions and are neither professional advice nor the opinions of my employers
