Screwfix direct deliveries

Beware, I ordered well over a £100's worth of items from Screwfix, as normal had to pay up front, next day delivery, got them 3 days later box very badly damaged and split.

Found item missing, informed Scewfix, the items were basicaly put in a big box, heavy and light items, no packaging, They made me feel like a criminal, sent the complete order back, minus missing item. Got a sarcastic email back with a collection booking 3 days away, phoned them, said couldn't change it, sent in a complaint, got a collection the next day.
But not yet had my money back, They are quick to take it, but slow to refund it.

NEVER USE THEM AGAIN

Was it delivered by Parcel Force? Most of the deliveries are, the Screwfix trucks only do depot to store deliveries.

Anything that is ordered to come into store for a customer is also delivered via Parcel Force, and as you say are in big boxes with no padding. The damaged box was down to PF, they aren't sent from the depot like that.

If they were sending someone to collect the box from you, then it can't be done straight away and have someone there within the hour, they have to arrange for someone to come for it, you could have taken them into the nearest store and get your refund there and then. (well you would have got the instant refund for the items you did have, the contact centre would have to sort the rest out)

With regard to the delay in sending to you, you didn't order this stuff on Monday did you? It's just that I know there was a delay with the computer ordering system, and it was taking hours for orders to process through the system, meaning they missed the deadline for next day delivery (5pm), also they do have upto 30 days to get your refund back to you (I think its either 30 or 28 days for the DSRs)

I've always found them very good at taking returns... much better than their main rival Toolstation. I will agree about the occasional thoughtless packaging though. I once ordered a large iron vice and some light bulbs among other things. They loosely packed the whole lot in one box. Needless to say, the vice smashed everything else to smithereens on its way to me.
