Everything I've bought over the last 2 months seems to have a no return policy at all, I didnt think shops could do that if the product is returned within 28days unopened???

legally a retailer is under no obligation to refund/exchange on any item that is as described, fit for purpose and in good working order because the customer has simply changed their mind/ got a dulpicate/found it cheaper elsewhere etc

I've found that a lot of the time Argos would allow items to be returned used but they seem to be cracking down on that a lot more. Personally, I don't see what the point is with the 30 day MBG.

Unless you're buying a gift for someone and they already have one why else would you decide to return something?

If you use it and think it's not as good as you thought it's then been used or the packaging has been ripped and you can no longer return it.

This will probably get me criticised by the 'Argos Police', but this COULD mean that it's not fit for purpose or not as described....or maybe it's faulty....

...so that would make it returnable... :D

I seem to recall that many items in the old 16 day warranty, you were allowed to use and still return them.

This I believe came about because you usually cannot get your hands or eyes on anything at Argos.

    I may be wrong ?? ;)

Yes, I remember those days as well. Then they changed it to unused. This does not mean unopened however. For example, we bought a floor cleaner but when we unpacked it we realised it was much bigger than we had anticipated. We re-packed it exactly as it had come and took it back. They gave us a refund with no quibble athought we had admitted we had opened it.

sorry to open an old thread, but does anyone know if i can return a tv to argos - have receipt less than 30 days, item is unopened and i'm looking for a refund not exchange.
-are tvs excluded from their 30 day refund terms?

    Thanks for your help
  • You should be fine to get a refund - as long as it hasn't got anything built in that can store data - like a recorder thingy. TVs in general are not exempt from the 30 day money-back guarantee. HTH.

i think its ok, i took a tv back to tesco with no prob, if they refuse, you could try again and say its faulty and they will have to give refund

That is exactly why shop workers don't trust customers. Faulty items get tested and need to be found faulty, if not then you have no chance.
I have been there and seen it all, thankfully I had a LBM and left retail but most of my lasting memories are proving customers wrong when they blatently lied to me or got nasty:mad:.
The honest ones:A I would always do my best to help, before I get branded the evil retail assistant.
