£3,000+ interest....how much cash do you have?? I remember the name "minted matty", i have likely asked you before. I was planning on being in here for 2012. I however reevaluated and i have been paying down the debts first. Things have changed again and i need to get as cash rich as possible, as soon as possible. So i am going to have to do everything i possibly can to get back on track and hit the £12k in 12.

Right now i am at about £2,000 so need £1,250 a month for the rest of the year, then i will manage to pay down debts again.

Sorreee! Apologies for my misleading english, My regular saver matured at 12 months after saving £250 per month for that period.....blimey I wish I was earning £3000 a year interest but sadly I'm not Rictus...oh dear! hope to break £200 interest this year (fingers crossed) The plan is to get upto £1000 earned interest between my accounts, I admit it will take a while but thats the longterm aim!

P.S my regular saver earned me £52.07 interest!

Had a rough few weeks lately. The large company I work for announced a high level of redundancies last week; my team is affected so last week was a pretty tough week (talking to & supporting the people in my team; people always rely on their managers to help them so it's nice to be able to help, just a little tiring!)

So, its made me all the more determined to be frugal with the pennies, and also dead proud to have amassed a nice little pot: means if the worst happens we have 6 month of rent & all bills available if needed! :money:

Payday next Friday which will take us to over 6.5k wooop! Working on paying off our credit card which we paid for our furniture on & our sofa and car payments which all end Nov/Dec. I've entered the amounrs owed into my accts app so I can see these coming down and the savings going up to inspire me!
    First home- Oct’16 until June’21: £170.995- Overpayments made £13,784 (25% extra!).
New forever home- Sep’21 £309,449 @ 2.05%. Plan to clear it before 30 years!!!!!!

New tax year so ISA interest has just arrived:D. £79.73 from my 2011/12 ISA so I'm adding that. I also made my usual £40 weekly transfer (into my new ISA for the new tax year) and another £6 which came from a paypal payment from Superp0ints.

Lost track a bit of my signature so I've checked my account to work out an updated figure of what I've saved in 2012 so it's all up to date now;).

Some move arounds today given the new tax year, transferred across £4,640 to my Lloyds Cash ISA and now have over £10K in my cash ISA :j

Over the next couple of months I'll put the other £1,000 in :D

In the mean time I've now opened up my First Direct Regular Saver account paying 8% interest, will top this up after payday but wanted it open so I could have it mature at the start of the tax year :) I can then use this money to fund next years ISA ;)

  • well done to everyone, things seem to be ticking along and for those who feel dispirited, remember that while you are going forward you are not going backwards!

I have just had a (cheapo) week away and tried not to spend too much, even had a 2nd purse to put shrapnel in which went into the sealed pot when I got home!

I spotted a cheap phone on HUKD which was £15 (but £5 off through quidco, £10 credit so essentially free!) and will do as a spare as ours are on the blink, batteries need a lot of charging up.

Constantly trying to find ways to cut down, I am running down the contents of my freezer and food cupboard so currently food shopping is around £35-40 per week for 4 of us so not bad. I have oversaved into my isa to take advantage of the limit which ended last week and fixed at 4.5% for 5 years and now saving into a regulare saver with first direct at 8%. Got to pay the balance for holiday for August so its going to be a lean few months!

Anyone got any moneysaving tips? I am going to grow some veg this year, planning tomatoes, lettuce, courgettes mainly.

Still making my own bread and even baked it on holiday! Saved a few bob and it tasted better...

Found a lovely charity shop on holiday and bought us all some clothes and bits and bobs, got my DD1 a lovely prom dress for £7 which she can wear on holiday too, she got some shoes there too which matched so I was well pleased.

I am finding that everything has gone up. Energy, petrol, all the utility bills and its getting harder to find ways to save money. I think the food shopping is the big one and currently working on ways to get it down. I have thought about increasing my hours at work but only as a last resort!

Hope everyone is doing well. :)
