Gap year loans??
Hey!
I'm just wondering if anyone knows the best kind of gap year loans i could get?
I currently work for RBS and am looking to take a few months off unpaid to go travelling as im quite stressed with work at the mo, however I want to look at getting a loan to go abroad for a few months.
Does anyone know the best kind of loan to get? My job will be there when i'm back so i can stay paying the loan back when im home!
thanks

If you are stressed and want to go travelling you are entitled to a free gift of £10k, no need to repay anything, ask your employer RBS about it.

You poor thing, you must be exhausted!
Why not ask your colleagues if they can help as they must be sympathetic seeing the state you're in

Without having any income to pay the loan back no-one is going to lend you any money.

Isn't it just a loan you're looking for ? Isn't a Gap year what students take off after they've finished studying ? How confident are you that your job will be there when you get back ? Can't see any lender giving you a loan with no salary coming in !0 -

Absolutely right, its called "my savings account balance" that I have saved up to fulfill my dream of traveling the world for a year"0 -
Let me get this straight. You want to walk away from RBS and go traveling, safe in the knowledge that your job will be there for you upon your return. Don't you think the work you do will have to be done by someone else? Or don't you do any work? Either way, sounds like you're surplus to requirements to me.My job will be there when i'm back
I can say with a large degree of certainty, that isn't going to happen.
Conversely I did exactly that in 2003/4, left a good job, sodded off for a year and came back, and 6 months after returning to the UK walked back into the same job I had before.
But rest assured it isn't going to happen for you.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -
Looking at the news today I am not even sure RBS will be there when he comes back.

Why is everyone being so horrid to the OP? Theres no need really, she was just asking a question.
If you work for RBS, and they have permitted you a sabattical for a period of time where you know you can return, then why not talk to your employer? You must get beneficial rates on loans, and maybe the option may be available to defer payments for 6 months or so, allowing you time to do a bit of travelling.
Just make sure you get it in writing that you will be able to return to your old poditon at the company beforehand. However, with long service many large employers will allow an extended period of time off from work, unpaid, if it is for a genuine purpose (i.e not going to work for a competitor), and can return to your job afterwards.
Ignore the sarcastic remarks. It probably just jealousy that they want to take time off yet cant afford to. I hope you find a way of going travelling and that you return to work feeling refreshed and motivated.0 -
No 1 is being nasty to the OP, why not just save up for it.0
