So who is still waiting on MBNA?

The 28 day deadline for issuing my cheque has been and gone (was allegedly issued on the 14th september) and guess what? It hasn't turned up! This has now been going on since february, and to say Im getting a little fed up is an understatement. I don't believe the figures they have given me are correct, plus Ive now also lost out on an additional weeks of interest (ok, I know not a huge sum, but its the principle!).

So who else is still waiting? If you thought their figures were incorrect, did you have any luck on getting a recalculation done?

Hope you receive your refund soon, I know they have backlogs but they should not give a timescale if they do not know for sure when they will be sending it.

Just a thought, did they say 28 working days?

  • Hi Bex,

I questioned the figures they'd given me too and after a lot of hassling got a full breakdown out of them. They turned out to be correct down to the last penny, in line with the FOS redress (check the FOS website for examples of how they work this out it if you haven't seen it already). I also demanded that they brought the interest up to date as they were a good couple of months late sending my cheque. Again after a lot of hassle (and because my cc card had a zero balance) they agreed to do this but weren't keen!

Their normal customer service department are rude and talk absolute nonsense and I ended up being given a verbal apology from one of the managers for the amount of mis-information I was given. Make sure you speak to the PPI specific department - they can put you through from customer services but I'd get them to give you the direct number instead. They were able to email me a breakdown of my settlement while I was on the phone to them.

    Good luck, nearly there!

The number I have for PPI on MBNA cards is 0800 917 6592, choose PPI - option 1, 1. They were very helpful when dealing with my complaint.

I think my rant on here must have helped, the cheque has literally just popped through the door! Thank you everyone for your responses, I do have the customer PPI number (mine was for a loan), it just got a bit frustrating being on hold for 20-30mins at a time!
  • Hi all
decision upheld in July on my old MBNA credit card which had been sold on to a DCA which i am paying off monthly. I didnt chase up the refund as i assumed it would go straight to the DCA. As i hadnt heard anything from DCA or MBNA as to new balance i chased up on Wednesday. I was told that they werent sure what had happend to the previous cheque but would re-issue 1 & i should get in approx 10 days:j
Didnt really want a cheque, so emailed CEO & the refund was paid into my account today.:T. Oh happy days.:)

I got my refund a few days before the 28 days ....

But they only offered and sent me around half of the PPI. This goes back 10 years exactly so there's obviously no 6 year limitation used by them.

There's no explanation why they won't go back 10 years and 9 months. I've asked them to send me the remaining PPI but had no answer yet.

With my default charges and PPI claims, MBNA never offered to send the refund to a DCA, even though the accounts were sold many years ago.
  • I received my extra cheque today for the additional interest that had built up after MBNA missed their 28 day deadline by a couple of months. If you think you should be receiving more interest because of late settlement then ring them and ask for it, they won't be offering it up of their own accord.

Three and half years and a foot deep of MBNA paperwork finished with!!!!!! Three down, two to go.
