House Insurance renewal help!!!!

I have just had my home insurance renewal at a ridiculous amount. When i have gone on these compare websites the best quote is from my existing Insurance company, being Churchill and some £250 cheaper.
My question is , even though i have contacted Churchill, and they are not prepared lower the renewal is there anything to stop me taking Insurance out via the compare website with Churchill again at a much lower price.
Its too simple, i know, but thats why i ask the question

No nothing to stop you doing that. Done it myself, with other companies, As long as you don't tell any porkies in the application, more fool them.0

Some companies have ways of matching it up and voiding it later on. Most dont though.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. They are not financial advice and you should not treat them as such. If you feel an area discussed may be relevant to you, then please seek advice from an Independent Financial Adviser local to you.0 -

On what grounds could they void it ? As long as you have answered 'no', if asked if you're already a customer. Can't ever remember ever seeing that question on an application. You're just letting an old (expensive) policy lapse and getting a new competitively priced one. Also has the benefit of 'forcing' you to review your cover each year.0
