Nigerian Scam Buyers

Options
Last week a scammer tried to buy a camera from me. Usual paypal fake emails etc.. As he purchased via "Buy It Now" I had to relist after waiting for his account to be deleted.

today I think another scammer is using the same method. pretty sure purchaser is a scammer but will wait for fake emails.

Is this extremely common on Ebay?
How can I avoid it?
Can anyone suggest an alternative way to sell my camera?

Any help really appreciated as I need the money and I'm feeling very fed up with ebay.

If I have something 2nd hand thats more expensive to sell I won't use ebay anymore. I use Gumtree and Adtrader to advertise it locally for collection only. The downside is that you are limiting your audience and it takes longer to sell but is much safer.

For bIN use 'immediate payment required' that stops virtually all of them.

Thanks. My problem is I was using BiN AND auction. I could give up on BiN but then if I waited 7 days and then got scammed I would have wasted even more time?

Set your selling prferences to only allow bidders in countries you post to then set postage to UK only.

Then block all bidders with 2 strikes, And only allow bidders with a credit card on file. That will weed out the amateurs.

Expensive camera, Make sure postage is listed as special delivery or use a courier, Not recorded delivery.
