A gift which MIL asked for for years was a digital frame, so we got her one, it didn't go down as well as hoped despite it being an all singing model (phillips one I think). Just because we hadn't loaded with pics. Maybe you could get one like in this link and fill with pics, I know it is just over your budget, but could you move £5 from christmas budget? hthCross Stitch Cafe Member No: 86 :j0 -
Hi all just to say if you are considering a digital frame my local Tesco have a 7inch one for £10. I have bought one for my MIL for xmas, am also going to buy an SD card and pass it around the family so it can get filled with family photos x

What does your MIL enjoy doing with her time? Has she got a hobby? Is she into Sewing, Knitting, Dancing, Painting, Gardening etc?
Or does she just enjoy looking at all those photos? Whoops! Sorry! (couldn't resist)
I think the Theatre trip is a good idea (if she is into that) or even just a trip to the cinema and a meal perhaps?
If she would enjoy it, what about the Dancing on Ice shows that are around at Christmastime?0 -
We shouldn't be stereotyping people by age and sex. Don't people look at the person and their interests any more? And of course we don't know this lady...
I hate it when people buy me what I call a 'lazy gift' after I have really thought about theirs. Frankly it is just going through the motions. What's the point?0 -
Broomstick? Theyre in all the shops right now !
Sorry, that might just be what I would buy1,2 & 5p: Christmas day food £9.31
10 & 20p: misc savings £2.70
50p: Christmas presents £3.50
£2: holidays £2.000 -
My mil is nightmare to buy for too, what I have planned for this year is a knitting magazine subscription as she won't pay for the magazines herself and I spend a fortune photocopying and posting patterns she wants down to her, so should save me some money too :money:.
Other than that I was looking at making up a hamper of her favourite things, ginger coated in chocolate, a bottle of port, cheese, crackers, etc.
I've purchased a lovely lidded basket to put it all in from poundstretcher and that's about as far as I've got so far.

I think that is a great present CallaLily.
You have put a lot of thought into whatyour MIL likes.
Well done you! :T:T:T0 -
I am liking the idea of a digital photo frame and I could even make it a joint present for MIL + FIL, that would double the budget so I could get a bigger one.
The only hobby she seems to have is flower arranging. She doesnt sew but I could look into other magazine's and maybe buy her the subscription.
She is desparately trying to loose weight at the moment so i'm going to avoid the hamper filled with chocolate goodies etc!
Thanks for all your sugestions) x

I did that for my inlaws last year. I waited outside the box office on the day the tickets were released & got front row tickets. The show was in the following March. They seemed thrilled with the tickets.
They forgot to go.
