    I don't remember advocating cheap insurance any more than I suggested exclusively using the broker market. I was just pointing out that you were wrong, and trying to stress how important it is to remember who might be reading what you write.

    The edit meant a lot.

    I think this is the most relevent point, in danger of being lost.

    If the insurance has cost the op £2500 for the year, and it's one month in, it's not worth a claim for himself, as the loss of the insurance would be the killer. It's more cost effective to repair it himself, or just scrap it, and change cars.
    Bear in mind if you scrap it and cancel, there will be no refund of any premium, as a claim has been made.
