  • Quick update... Spoke to consumer direct this morning that advised me even if comets t&c dont state a reasonable time to fix the problem under the soga it is now classed as a significant unreasonable amount of time to try and fix the problem...

So with that info i call comet back and spoke to the 29th person only to be told the 3 ladies ive spoke to this week are not available and could she help???

After letting rip for 15 mins without breath she told me she would forward an urgent request to another department telling them to contact me today...

Ive said i wont hold my breath & also advised her i will now not accept the tv to be fixed i will only accept vouchers from comet to replace it myself... Wts!!!
  • seems perserverence has paid off, i called again earlier and it appears phillips stopped making plasmas 3 yrs ago so have confirmed they are unable to put a new screen in my tv!!!!!!!! wished theyd worked that out 10 weeks ago???

so with this in writting from phillips nxt week they will be writting the tv off and supplying me with a new 1...

i am going to push for comet vouchers as id like to choose my own model but will not be taking out an extended warranty with them will purchase it elsewhere...

1 quick question tho if theres any comet reps on here... my sons tv was written off 2 months ago and comet called to say i could either have the model they have chosen as a replacement or i can go into comet and choose a new tv up to the price of £249 as this is what we paid for his 1...
will this happen with my 50" plasma that we paid £1500 for 5 yrs ago and are now only 600 to buy??? wonder if theyll offer me up to 1500??? im thinking not but surely a policy is a policy regardless or price paid???

Comet appear in this forum again, I wonder why. Perhaps it's because they are utter *****.
There's a storm coming, Mr Johnson. You and your friends better batten down the hatches, because when it hits, you're all gonna wonder how you ever thought you could live so large and leave so little for the rest of us.

I would be VERY surprised you'd be offered £1500, it will more than likely be a case of Like For Like, you can put more money towards a replacement or better specifications.

    *Edit*

I've not seen a Comet Rep for a while on the forums Lip_Stick, I suppose it's a rather thankless task when all you get to do is deal with irate customers who have resorted to posting on public boards because the Customer service has been so bad.

I spoke to a customer service rep on this forum. It got passed on to the relevant department. It didn't make the slightest bit of difference. This was despite the sales staff ordering the wrong fridge freezer. I asked for the correct one, and got told I'd have to pay extra for it, despite an agreement on first ordering a cooker and expensive microwave, that I'd get a reduction on my f/f. So I'd ordered 3 items, but the sale had finished by the time the wrong ff got delivered, and I'd have to put up with that.
Nothing I could do about it.

But how old was your sons TV when it was written off?
  • Quick update 4 u... I was given a managing directors email address so i forwarded my complaint to him, the very nxt day i was contacted for more info... 4 days later they have written my tv off as phillips stopped making plasmas 3 yrs ago and cant get me a screen (y they didnt realise that 4 mths ago) and have offered me a lovely 51" 3d tv with 2 pairs of glasses totalling 850.00 to which i have accepted... I guess its a classic case of its not what u know but WHO you know!!!
