After the engineer has called, let us know how you get on sb44 (if you get a mo and can be bothered). As far as I can establish, the pin is a form of connection between the guts of the TRV and the top (the bit that you adjust to suit). It doesn't act as a 'bung' or seal; but I may be talking bovine manure. :)

Yep, I will let you know what he said (if I remember it all!).

I know that my husband had the hammer to both radiators last night and he couldn't even get the water to heat up in either.

When the pin came out of both, I heard a noise like air being released, the water came out and it sounded like the pump was then sending the hot water to the radiator, they then started to heat up which the didn't before.

Well, he came and he replaced the tvr and the dial in both radiators. I just assumed he would just replace the dial, didn't realise he would replace the entire connection.

As soon as I said I had pulled out the pin he asked did I get water everywhere, he said it was normal for the water to come out.

    ;)
