Can I repair this myself ?

I have a 20 year old Miele hydromatic W698 washing machine that has been brilliant. The only thing I have ever had to do is clean out the filters and so it does not owe me a penny.
Today it has started to leak .The water is building up in the filter area although the filter is totally clear so I am guessing that the pump has failed. Does anyone know if this could be the correct diagnosis and if it is would it be a repair best left to the experts. Thanks in advance for any help.

not sure if its 100% the pump.
but changing WM pumps is a fairly simple diy job.
miele parts are expensive. is it worth spending 100 - 250 quid on a 20 yr old machine?Get some gorm.0 -
If the drum isn't emptying then yes it could be pump failure. But it wouldn't usually leak as a result unless the leak is at the pump.
Pumps are pretty much standard, so it may still be possible to get the part for your 20 year old machine. An easy job for a white good repair person, or not too tricky to DIY.
What do you mean by 'water building up, in the filter area'?No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -

Change it. Its served you well for 20 years. You may be willing to find someone willing to take it off your hands for £50.We’ve had to remove your signature. Please check the Forum Rules if you’re unsure why it’s been removed and, if still unsure, email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0

New Miele washing machines are now on sale with a 10 year warranty................0 -
I had the same issue wit a mechanical clock for a Zanussi built in oven something like £130. Brought a whole new double oven for £340 delivered.
Interestingly it was being sold by the warehouse part of a national repair company offerny something like £80 fixed fee repairs.....
I know, they would have condemned my old one and pocketed the booking fee;)"If you act like an illiterate man, your learning will never stop... Being uneducated, you have no fear of the future.".....

Wow, think it's a new washing machine for me !! The water seems to be draining out of the machine but getting stuck in the space where the filter is.There is a little door on the front and behind this is a plastic door that unscrews that releases the filter to clean it and this is where the water seems to be building up .Thanks for all the replies like I said it has served me well but would have to agree that it doesn't seem worth doing the repair.
