Scottish power only 50% actual usage - the rest charges?
Hi everyone,
I was wondering if anyone else has received a letter stating where your actual gas/elec charges come from?
Mine has come this morning along with a massive bill that we cant pay and it states the following -
THE COST OF YOUR BILL IS MORE THAN JUST THE PRICE OF ENERGY
50% Wholesale energy costs
20% Delivering the energy to your home
21% Looking after your energy account
9% VAT & goverment obligations
:eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek:
Now maybe Im stupid cause I never noticed this before, but no wonder I cant keep up with the bill if we are paying an additional 50% for NON USAGE!
Please advise anyone
Thank you:j

Why don't you ring up Scottish Power and tell them you would like to save some money by collecting your energy needs from them, rather than having them deliver it to you?0 -

What sort of advice would you like ? The whole distribution system needs to be maintained and this costs money,
If you have several billion pounds, create your own distribution network to your house and you will see your bills fall. If not, pay up and don't moan about daft things like this

It might seem a waste of time to you, but when you have had your home repossessed and in thousands and thousands of pounds worth of debt I have to investigate every SINGLE penny.
Thanks for your kind words0 -
Complaining about costs involved with delivering the energy to you isn't going to get you anywhere. If you have paper free billing and pay by direct debit you will reduce the costs to Scottish Power and they will in turn give you a discount which may or may not already be on your bill. Make sure you compare the best deals and get on the best rate and reduce your usage as much as possible. It might seem a waste of time to you, but when you have had your home repossessed and in thousands and thousands of pounds worth of debt I have to investigate every SINGLE penny.
Thanks for your kind words:footie:
Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S)
Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money.
