been made redundant while on the sick?

hi i broke my leg on saturday playing football and will be off work sick for around 6 to 8 weeks.just got a call from a mate at work today saying there having a meeting tomo with h/r to be put on there notice(7 of us).
can i be put on my notice while on the sick?i carn't get to work as my leg is in a pot and i am stuck in bed for at least the next two weeks.i ve worked there 12 years full time.cheers paul.

Yes they can. You will need to be contacted by the organisation though in order for it to be formal and therefore legal. You still have the right to attend meetings and see the selection criteria etc. If you cannot get into the meetings then telephone calls would suffice.0
