Where can I buy those jam jar cover thingies you put on the top of jam jars before closing them? I want to make some marmalade but I think I will need these covers? Or can I just close the jars without?

Lakeland sell them. Also if you have any local general purpose newsagent/post office type shop that sell stationary and all sorts of bits, they may well have them....mine did but 'under the counter' so I had to ask for them. Hope that helpsWe don't need to do it perfectly - good enough is exactly that GOOD ENOUGH.0

I would strongly recommend buying proper lids instead of using the wax paper and plastic tops. The jam will keep much better.
If you only need a few then Lakeland do them. However, if you are into serious jam making, or you need odd sizes, then Ascott Smallholdings is brilliant...but they come in quite large quantities.
This is a link to their jars page, the lids are at the bottom.

or you can cut out discs from the plasticky linings of empty cereal packets, then they won't cost a thing!:j0

My friend told me to use greaseproof paper circles when I thought about making jam. Not tried it but she always used to do it.Debt: 16/04/2007:TOTAL DEBT [strike]£92727.75[/strike] £49395.47:eek:   £43332.28 repaid 100.77% of £43000 target.MFiT T2: Debt [STRIKE]£52856.59[/STRIKE] £6316.14 £46540.45 repaid 101.17% of £46000 target.2013 Target: completely clear my [STRIKE]£6316.14[/STRIKE] £0 mortgage debt. £6316.14 100% repaid.0

My local co-op sells packs of about 25 per set. That's wax disks, a wrap over top, and an elastic band.Hi, I'm a Board Guide on the Old Style and the Consumer Rights boards which means I'm a volunteer to help the boards run smoothly and can move and merge posts there.
