I bought some bubble bath by mistake a couple of weeks ago and use it in the shower - it's a bit runnier than shower gel but seems to do the same job and works out cheaper.
  • I use both...

I've only ever used soap and water for my face, keeps it clear, spot free and fresh looking :)

When in the shower I use soap for an initial clean, rinse off and then use a shower gel afterwards for fragrance and it makes my skin feel great!!

  • I've had alot of trouble this year with dry, itchy skin, went back to bar soap a couple of weeks ago due to someone on MSE recommending it. My skin immediately improved. Liquid soap and shower gel are still much more convinient but I am so relieved by soft, supple skin I'm prepared to put up with the extra trouble. I keep my soap in the airing cuboard inbetween showers so it never gets squidgy. Rest of the family still use shower gel and handwash is still on the sink. I refill them with cheap supermarket own bath creme which I think is a bit richer than the usual value shower gel.
No buying unnecessary toiletries 2014. Epiphany on 4/4/14 - went into shop to buy 2 items, walked out with 17!

Aqueous cream for face, soap for washing rest of body, bubble bath to soak in.

Soap leaves my skin feeling weird, kinda rubbery if that makes sense. I don't understand why people would pay over £4 for a bottle of shower gel...I have whatever's cheapest in wither Tesco or Bodycare.

Soap brings me out in a rash! I have to use shower gel and liquid hand wash, can only use certain brands of those too.

Soap leaves my skin feeling dry and sticky! You can often get showergel in poundland.. the original source or 99p sometimes in Wikinsons if you can't afford any others. Also I got a 25% off showergel coupon when I put my card in the Boots advantage machine last week.. available until end of month on any showergel. You can often find showergel quite cheaply really, The Body shop often sell them for £2 in the sale or all the time at The Body Shop outlet stores.

I use shower gel because I hate soap scum. Olay is my fav (but is £4 off a bottle - I stock up when on offer), Dove is my second choice & always on offer somewhere.
If I feel really dirty, I use soap as it makes me feel really clean - Dove soap being my choice.
If I have a bath I use bubble bath too, as if you only use soap it makes the bath scummy.
